The recent Forum article on AI and crypto (Bitcoin) mining barely touched on the terrible dangers of building infrastructure to support their mega electricity appetite. The recent history of Dickinson’s support of crypto mining shows consumers seeing their utility bills greatly increase to support out of state investors. All in the name of growth. At any cost. And at any cost to the environment.

Warren Buffett correctly labeled Bitcoin “rat poison squared.” It is mainly used for hiding tax evasion schemes and ransom demands for the unlocking of computer systems. It doesn’t help when government officials and congressmen push stock investment and support. Hopefully, the secret coding of crypto will someday be exposed. Then its stock value will be correctly plummet.
